Three cakes in Four days.

That's right. Three whole cakes! Other things went on too so lets start with this. I have been absent for a while and so have yet to tell you that about two weeks ago it snowed. For a solid hour. Big fat sloppy wet flakes, but still snow in Mid April. Here's Brandon doing what all children do :)
Moving on. I went to Port Angeles to visit Leonie before I moved to Salem and she took off on a multitude of new travels. It was her birthday so I made her somewhat deflated bagels, which I managed to get to the nursery, still warm, at lunchtime. While there, I inspected the nursery, especially the greenhouse which is now living up to its name. All kinds of things have sprouted and sprung up and it looks quite lush. Even the ferns (green fuzzy stuff above) were sprouting (if that's the right word for it), justifying the awkward crawling necessary to water them.

Vine maple  (above), bigleaf maple (lower left), Indian plum (center), all the magnificent cuttings that are already being transplanted (right).
And then I made the first cake, and there was a little birthday party too. Which included of all things, bobbing for apples. So even though my rational mind told me shoving my face in a tub of water in pursuit of an apple was ill advised... I did it anyway. It was after all, a PARTY.

That other girl is Margaux (? sounds like Margo) the new French volunteers. Anywho. I stole the marzipan carrot idea from Leonia and then tried to make a glacier lily... Meh At least it looks like a flower.
The next morning I drove back to the Ham and out into the county for a work party. Somebody blue tubed everything in sight....

Then we had tacos and citrusy bunt type cake (Mal's requested bday cake). I have no patience for bunt cakes. I always break them and its sad sad sad.

Then on Monday it was the Otter's birthday! Yay!!! I made him socks and he modeled them for me. And that's the story of the three cakes.

I have since packed and moved some of my things to Salem to prepare for my two month butterfly gig. I had to go do paperwork at the WSU extension in Vancouver, which has a nice view of Mt St Helens (?)
And driving on, you see Mt Hood (?)

And this is it. My new space. Yipee! Now I have a few days to explore before I begin work. Its 70 here. Pure delight.

This is a Fender's Blue female, which is what I will be chasing (once they emerge) and counting their eggs.
